What is The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism™?

The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism™ ensures health and social care professionals feel confident and equipped to provide safe, compassionate, and effective care and support. Required under the Health and Care Act 2022, this training is a critical step in improving outcomes and saving lives. Developed with Autistic people and people with a learning disability, it brings real-world insights into practical training.

A two-stage learning process

Book the training

E-learning Module – Free

A 90-minute e-learning module, provided by NHS England, covering essential knowledge about supporting Autistic people and people with a learning disability. On completion of the mandatory e-learning module, you must then choose Tier 1 OR Tier 2 training. Find out more by clicking the button below.

Interactive Training

On completion of the mandatory e-learning module, you must then choose Tier 1 OR Tier 2 training.

Tier 1: One-hour live online session, designed for staff who need general awareness of the support and care needed. Co-delivered by Autistic trainers, trainers with a learning disability, and facilitators.

OR

Tier 2: Full-day in-person training, designed for those actively providing direct care and support. Co-delivered by Autistic trainers, trainers with a learning disability, and facilitators.

Certification and Compliance

After completing the training, learners receive a certificate as part of their compliance with the Health and Care Act 2022 and CQC mandatory requirements.
